Burning Man Build Week Essentials
I hate climbing up a ladder and finding out the tools I need are across camp somewhere. During build and strike, I keep my most frequently used tools on me. I love overalls for this, but a belt works too for hooking a tool pouch, zip tie holder, cutters, drill hook, water, etc…. The less I have to waste time and energy walking around camp the better. Below are links to things that make my build week easier.
Amazon Links
- Universal Drill Hooks · Drive hang points anywhere you need to stash gear
- Carabiner Clips · Clip anything to anything — belt, bike, shade structure
- Zip Tie Holder · Keeps a stack of zip ties on your belt instead of buried in a bag
- Zip Tie Cutters — Compact · Cuts ties flush and small enough to live in the pouch
- Ball Bungee Cords · Fast, reusable tie-downs for tarps and shade cloth
- Zip Ties · You'll go through more than you think
- Magnogrip Tool Pouch · Magnetic pouch that holds screws and bits so they don't end up in the playa
- Standard Belt · The belt I run the pouch on — grab your size (that's why it's not in the cart)
- Lightweight Tool Belt · The lighter option if a full belt is overkill for you
- HydraPak Water Pouch · Soft water pouch that rides on the belt so you keep drinking while you work
- Neck Gaiter — UV Protection · Sun and dust cover for your neck and face
- Carhartt Rigby Overall · Build-week work overalls — pick your size
- Vented N95 Mask · For when the dust kicks up mid-build
- Fenix Rechargeable Headlamp · My favorite — rechargeable, bright, and it survives the playa
- Cooljob Work Gloves · Love these for build and strike, been using them for years on and off playa — check the size
- Husky Ratchet Straps · Home Depot has the best deal I've found for 12' and 16' straps — no Amazon link for this one
- Impact Driver — batteries + charger included · Runs the drill hooks and everything else on this list
