There’s ice in the cooler, but is the food still good?
Here's the kit for my cooler thermometer setup. There may be ice in the cooler, but that doesn't always mean the food's still good. This waterproof min max thermometer tells me how hot it actually got in my cooler during the day. I rubber band it to a cold water bottle so the sensor is tracking the temp of the water which heats up at a similar rate as the food. If I had frozen meat, I would freeze the water bottle. If the thermometer just sits out on the open, it’s not as accurate of a reading for the food, cause air temps change quick when ever the cooler lid opens. If I think the food's probably okay, this reassures me. If the thermometer says it hit a high temp, I know to be sketched out on the food.

- Digital Thermometer · Waterproof, tracks high/low temps

- Cooler — Coleman · I don't have a recommendation for a cooler. I need to get a new one myself. This Coleman looks pretty nice. Everyone has different preferences on brand and size. I usually get one that's a little bigger than what I plan to put in it so there's room to store extra ice, so I can do fewer ice runs.
- Wire Rack · For in the cooler. These are another thing that needs some thought, to make sure it fits your cooler. I'm surprised I can't find any coolers on Amazon that come with a rack in them. This one's adjustable, but seems a bit narrow.
